Just Book It!
Destination? Decided. Flight information? Acquired. Rental car… maybe? Do we need one? Whatever. Just book it, we’ll figure it out when we get there.
“Live your life by a compass, not by a clock”
— Stephen Curry
If we are not careful, we may unknowingly succumb to the “someday” mentality; that whimsical dreaming that at some moment in the future, there will be a better time suited to embark on adventure and explore the unfamiliar. We’d love to visit Portugal! Someday…
Our time on this earth is a gift. Although we may live like we have all the time in the world, with all of the surprises and unprecedented circumstances life has to offer, we don’t truly know what the future holds. What we do know is our present circumstance and phase of life. Speaking for myself, at the end of my life I don’t want to be left with thoughts of “I wish,” but rather thoughts of “I’m glad I did.” Not every detail needs to be planned to the T in order to explore some place new. Let your curiosities guide you instead of waiting for that perceived perfect moment. This is my approach to life, from the smallest moments of trying the latest restaurant in town to booking a plane ticket to the next geographic destination. So just go. Just book it.

Every person has a story. Culture has a story. Land has a story. During travel, for a moment in time, those narratives intersect and co-write a chapter that will exist forever in the novel of the other. For me, traveling to other places and meeting other people is a way to expand understanding about the world we live in through the sum of its parts while simultaneously allowing introspection and broadening individual growth.
Join me as I stumble through domestic and international adventures with both thoughtfulness and a sense of humor. While some of the things I write about I researched and became aware of before a trip through saved Instagram posts and googling “unique things to do in ___”, others were a google maps search when my plane hit the tarmac or after tossing my carry-on in the trunk and turning the key in the ignition of the rental car. I invite you to be a part of my story, and to integrate my recommendations, musings and insights into your own adventures, creating your own structure from my chaos.
